The Mike Richards Big Band was originally formed out of a group of friends in 1980.

We set up initially as a rehearsal band but we quickly developed into a working band, playing in every conceivable venue from Birmingham to Bournemouth.

We are at home squeezing into the smallest pub, to playing at Big Band weekends for over 1,000 people and we have been providing top quality music with the emphasis on having fun for over 25 years.

The Band uses the standard line up of 5 Saxes, 4 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, Piano, Bass, Drums and Guitar and is completed by Nigel Garrard our vocalist and compere.

We have worked with many great vocalists including Ron Rogers, Kevin O’Brien, Glen Macnamara, Gary Williams, Karen Hill, Carol Wilson, Shane Hampsheir and John Brennan
